We recently held our much anticipated School To Work Forum Business Breakfast where we invited local employers to explore and understand how to attract and support young people into employment!

We heard from some fantastic speakers including Robin from Workforce Partners Australia, Gaye and Josh from Rutherford Street Insurance Services, Hayley from headspace Swan Hill, James from SuniTAFE, Jodi from CVGT Employment and Tracey from Polymaster Group.

Our guest speakers spoke about a huge range of topics including;

  • Apprenticeship and traineeship support
  • Their HR journey from an employer’s perspective
  • Mental health and wellbeing tips and tricks
  • The benefits of an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Some tips for having a positive workplace culture
  • Training and upskilling options
  • Various business support that is available in our region plus heaps more!

Our Projects/Communications Officer Mikayla also spoke about our Swan Hill Connect U resource and how beneficial it is for local employers including how they are able to promote themselves as an employer of choice in our community.

Overall, the breakfast was a success with over 15 local businesses registering for the forum and receiving some ‘Tools For Employers’ Gift Bags which include plenty more resources and freebies that they can use and implement in their workplace!

We would like to thank Nathan and the Swan Hill Rural City Council Economic Development team and Tameeka at Swan Hill Incorporated for their support in facilitating the forum and a huge thank you to our wonderful guest speakers on the day!
We would also like to say a special thank you to the local businesses and employers for their support and commitment to encouraging strong future employment outcomes in our community!
