The Murray Mallee LLEN Student Excellence Awards recognise the achievements of regional students completing Vocational Education and Training in schools (VETiS), School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) and Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). The awards were established in 2003.
Award finalists are nominated in categories from secondary schools throughout the Murray Mallee region. They are chosen by teachers and trainers as some of the most skilled, committed and hardworking students. Finalists are then interviewed by a judging panel from each industry sector, made up of local business and industry identities.
Finalists and category winners are recognised at the Murray Mallee LLEN Student Excellence Awards evening, held at the Swan Hill Town Hall.
As well as presentation of awards to category winners, the event includes the presentation of the Steve Foley Memorial Award for Student of the Year and the Murray Mallee LLEN VCAL Partner Achievement Award, which recognises partner organisations that have been outstanding in their support of a VCAL project or program in collaboration with a school.
